“Big Nick’s Ride Traffic Alert”

Good evening. This is Yarmouth Police Chief Frank Frederickson with an important traffic Advisory. This coming Sunday July 18th , the 11th annual “Big Nicks Ride for the Fallen” will take place. The event typically draws hundreds of motorcycles that ride together in honor of the 16 Cape Cod service men and women that have lost their lives defending our country since September 11th, 2001.

The Ride will start at 10 AM near the entrance of the Bourne National Cemetery and proceed along Rte. 6A through Bourne, Sandwich and Barnstable. Riders are expected to enter Yarmouth on Rte. 6A between 1045 AM and 11 AM. They will continue on Rt.6A and then turn onto Setucket Rd. and then onto North Dennis Rd.. After merging onto No. Main St. the ride will turn right onto Regional Ave and then right onto Station Ave. The ride will pass through the front parking lot of the Dennis Yarmouth Regional High School and then disperse northbound on Station Ave.

Please keep this event in mind as you plan your day.

Many people take this opportunity to line the route of “Big Nicks Ride” to show honor and respect to Cape Coders and other Service men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. If you plan to show your support, please find a safe location along the route that will allow room for your flags, signs and chairs.

I leave you with this special poem:

Tomorrow Cape Cod displays its honor and pride

As hundreds of motorcycles join together for Big Nick’s Ride

It is sobering and sweet to see your flags along the route

They bring strong emotions, tears and respectful salutes

We will not forget the 16 Cape warriors who sacrificed their lives

In order to protect us and allow us to thrive

We thank you Matthew, Gerald , Clint, Alicia, Eric, Kevin and, Zach -

And also Dan, Paul, Alex, Francis, Mark , Stephen, William and Matt

And of Course there is our native son Nicholas

Who’s’ spirit lives on and will always be with us

All gave some and some gave all,

All gave some and some gave all

Please enjoy this very special event and I thank you in advance for your support and cooperation.
